VICTON Talks About Recent Success And Changes, Teamwork, And More
December 25, Cosmopolitan revealed VICTON’s pictorial for the magazine’s January issue.
On their most recent comeback, Seungsik said, “It was our first comeback in one year and six months, so I was worried, but we won No. 1 on a music show for the first time. We even did our first ever concert and Asia tour. Everything is a first for us, so we’re really thankful that we were able to do a lot of new things.”
Chan said, “We recently held a fan meeting in Japan, and 1,300 people came. We did local album promotions, and they said we sold 15,000 albums. We performed in Japan a year and a half ago, but after standing on a much bigger stage, we really felt that we’ve become more popular.”
On seeing success three years after their debut in November 2016, Hanse said, “The VICTON members always talked amongst ourselves, saying we should take our time, and I think it’s going as we’d hoped.” Seungsik added, “We talked a lot about how if we work hard, we’ll shine someday. I think VICTON is starting to shine a little bit.”
VICTON explained that they assigned each group member a familial role, from the “dad” to the “youngest son.” Sejun said, “We just did it for fun when we were trainees, since all of the members have different personalities. Seungwoo is the dad; Seungsik is the mom; Chan is the uncle; Hanse, Byungchan, and I are the three sons; and Subin is the baby.”
Talking about the “mom” of the group, Seungsik, Chan said, “Seungsik is sweet and caring, and he is really good at household chores. He takes care of the house, so we absolutely need him. He said once that he would stop doing work around the house and watch how we do, and after about two weeks, the kitchen was filled with so many boxes you couldn’t even go in.”
Asked to name what sets them apart from others, the group said “loyalty,” and Sejun added, “The members also always name teamwork as one of our greatest strengths. There are a lot of people that find us charming because of how well we get along.” Subin said, “Whenever a problem arises, we comfortably discuss it. We fight at times, and we work through any difficulties with compromise.”
