Soompi's K-Pop Music Chart: 2019 Year-End Review

As 2019 comes to a close, we review the top songs and artists of the year according to Soompi’s K-pop Music Chart.

The Soompi Music Chart takes into account rankings by various major music charts in Korea as well as the hottest trending artists on Soompi, making it a unique chart that reflects what’s going on in K-pop not only in Korea but around the world. Our chart is composed of the following sources:

Gaon Singles + Albums Chart – 25%
Various Internet Charts (Bugs, Melon, Soribada, Genie) – 15%
Soompi Airplay – 20%
TV Music Show Charts (SBS “Inkigayo,” KBS “Music Bank,” Mnet “M Countdown,” MBC “Music Core,” MBC Plus “Show Champion”) – 40%

Here are the top 10 songs of 2019 based on cumulative points of Soompi’s weekly charts this year:

  1. BTS – “Boy With Luv (feat. Halsey)”
  2. TWICE – “FANCY”
  3. AKMU – “How can I love the heartbreak, you’re the one I love”
  4. Jang Hye Jin and Yoon Min Soo – “Drunk On Love”
  5. BLACKPINK – “Kill This Love”
  6. Chungha – “Gotta Go”
  7. ITZY – “ICY”
  8. Song Ha Ye – “Your regards”
  9. Taeyeon – “Four Seasons”
  10. BOL4 – “Workaholic”

The OST song that accumulated the most points is Taeyeon’s “All About You” from “Hotel Del Luna.”

These are the artists in each category that received the most cumulative points on the Soompi Music Chart this year:

  • Overall Artist: TWICE
  • Male Group: BTS
  • Female Group: TWICE
  • Male Solo: Jang Beom June
  • Female Solo: Taeyeon
  • Rookie: ITZY

The album that accumulated the most points, combining all songs that charted, is BTS’s “Map of the Soul: Persona.”
