Pledis Denies Rumors Of Manipulating Charts For NU'EST W + Asks

Pledis Entertainment has spoken up regarding the recent episode of SBS’s “Unanswered Questions,” which dealt with the topic of digital chart manipulation.

The program aired an interview with a man stating that his personal data had been used for the purposes of sajaegi (digital chart manipulation). The e-mails he received for the music someone else bought under his account were shown, and NU’EST W’s “Dejavu” could be seen as the song that was bought in July 2018.

Below is Pledis Entertainment’s full statement:

Hello, this is Pledis Entertainment.

Here is our statement on the content that aired yesterday night (January 4) on SBS’s “Unanswered Questions” with the title “Manipulated World – Is It Digital Sajaegi? Or Viral Marketing?”

Before we state our position on the matter, we clearly announce that the agency has not engaged in any illegal or fraudulent acts related to digital sajaegi.

It is unfortunate that on the broadcast of SBS’s “Unanswered Questions,” when statements along the lines of, “There were records of digital music purchases for an artist he didn’t listen to or buy music for,” were said in an interview with a man regarding the digital sajaegi suspicions, the e-mail that was revealed made it appear like the problem was related to our artist.

Our artist, who worked hard for several years, has received serious damage from the defamation, speculations, and rumors that are being spread due to the “Unanswered Questions” broadcast.

Therefore, we ask [“Unanswered Questions”] to admit to and apologize for the production mistake of airing the group’s name as an “artist under suspicion of digital sajaegi” when the matter is unrelated to our artist and to correct the mistake on VOD rerun services.

Thank you.
