Kim Joon Ho Candidly Talks About “2 Days & 1 Night” + Hopes For His New Show
On January 7, the press conference for MBN’s new variety show “Friendly Variety Show” (literal title) took place at the Grand Ambassador Seoul.
Kim Joon Ho was asked a question about the third season of “2 Days & 1 Night,” which he stepped down from last March following gambling allegations.
The comedian shared, “I was planning on starting 2020 with the mindset of a newcomer. I wasn’t going to talk about what happened in the past, but I’ll have to. Many things happened in 2019, and there was the issue with ‘2 Days & 1 Night’ Season 3. At the time, I felt very apologetic towards the many staff members, actors, and everyone involved. Then PD Kim Sung said that he would bring together the staff members who were on hiatus or had quit and would start a show.”
He added, “I chose this program especially because of [Lee] Yong Jin. I went to meet PD Kim Sung, and when Yong Jin appeared, saying, ‘You’ll join me, right?’ it touched my heart. On the day of the recording, most of the ‘2 Days & 1 Night’ staff were there. Even the food truck lady was there, so I almost teared up. I felt so happy to be able to work together.”
Kim Joon Ho revealed, “For traveling shows, the location and food are all important, but what’s really important is who you’re with. I’ve worked with Cha Tae Hyun, Kim Jong Min, Defconn, and other members for five years, and they were really nice memories. I want to make new memories with Choi Soo Jong, Sam Hammington, and other foreign friends.”
“Friendly Variety Show” is a reality show involving competitions between Korean cast members and foreign cast members who love Korea more than anyone. The show premieres on January 7 at 11 p.m. KST.
