SF9 Talks About Their First Full-Length Album And Goals For 2020

On January 7, SF9 held a showcase for the release of their first studio album, “First Collection.”

Inseong said, “Because it’s our first full-length album, we put a lot of care into it. The area we focused on the most was choreography. The members participated in the production of the choreography and Taeyang even created parts of it. The members gave their opinions on all areas, including b-side tracks, costuming, and hair and makeup.”

The music video for their title track, “Good Guy,” features a “suit concept.” Youngbin said, “It’s a concept that fans told us they wanted to see. We also said among ourselves that we wanted to try wearing suits, and the timing worked out exactly right. We met with our agency staff members and we researched concepts with the model of George Clooney, who naturally brings out a sexy aura when he puts on a suit.”

Chani picked Rowoon as the member who best fit the concept and said, “I think it suits him really well. He’s tall and he has a good body, so he looks cool.” Rowoon, on the other hand, picked Jaeyoon and said, “He looks the coolest. He worked out a lot for this album. I heard that he spent 25 hours at the basement fitness center to achieve George Clooney’s sexiness and aura.”

Chani and Rowoon were also asked about how their dramas brought attention to the group as a whole. Rowoon said, “I was proud to see Chani receive recognition from the general public through ‘SKY Castle.’ I think that interest in Chani grew into interest in SF9. Rather than hope for the same in ‘Extraordinary You,‘ I focused on working hard and doing a good job. I think that that came across and interest in SF9 naturally increased. I am very proud and I’m grateful to my members to have waited for the six months I took to work on the production.”

Leader Youngbin also shared the group’s goal for 2020. He said, “In 2020… We’ve never taken No. 1 on a music show. That’s our new goal for this year. Our goal is to make sincere music and perform on stage. If we don’t change that mindset, I believe fans will recognize it.”
