JYP Entertainment Releases Statement On Legal Action Against Spread Of TWICE's Flight Information

JYP Entertainment has posted a firm warning regarding the circulation of TWICE’s flight information and maintaining order at the airport.

On January 8, the agency posted the following statement:

Hello, this is JYPE.

Recently, we announced that we are seeking fundamental measures regarding the leaking, selling, and circulating of our artists’ flight information for their safety and protection of privacy.

We are currently checking through various ways regarding the selling of flight information, and we are continuously reviewing the potential and level of possible legal action based on the confirmed information.

If personal data is infringed upon due to illegal leaking and selling of flight information, this is a violation of the Personal Information Protection Act and can result in a fine of up to 50 million won (approximately $42,500) or imprisonment of up to five years. The unauthorized circulation of such information is also a violation of the same law and can result in a fine of up to 30 million won or imprisonment of up to three years (approximately $25,500).

In addition, illegally acquiring information about artists can be a violation of Interference with Business according to the Criminal Act, and this can also result in a fine of up to 15 million won (approximately $12,700) or imprisonment of up to five years.

Furthermore, we are once again notifying the people who repeatedly cause safety issues at the airport regarding proper behavior at the airport.

The airport is a space used by not only the artists but also many other people, so we hope that order will be maintained at the airport in order to not cause an inconvenience in usage.

Legal action is being reviewed and carried out also regarding violations of these matters.

Thank you.
