Dong Ha's Agency Clarifies His Involvement In Assault Case
Dong Ha’s agency has denied the actor’s involvement in a recently reported assault case.
On January 7, DongA Ilbo reported that an unnamed celebrity was indicted without detention on the charge of assault at a club in the neighborhood of Seocho on January 5. The anonymous celebrity denied the charges, stating that his acquaintance had been the one involved in the fight. The police stated, “We are checking the facts while considering assault from both parties to be highly likely.” They added, “The agency strongly denied the accusations.”
Although Dong Ha’s name was not brought up in the report, people online began to suspect the actor based on the information that the suspect is an actor in his 20s who debuted through a drama in the second half of the 2000s and has been promoting actively.
A source from Dong Ha’s agency Management AND revealed on January 8, “It was Dong Ha’s friend rather than Dong Ha who was swept up in the assault case. In fact, the friend was also a victim.”
According to the agency’s explanation, Dong Ha and his friend were outside after attending an acquaintance’s birthday party on January 5 when an intoxicated person on the street pushed Dong Ha and picked a fight with him. Dong Ha immediately left the scene, and the friend was assaulted while trying to stop the intoxicated person.
The source from the agency shared, “Since problems could arise in the future because Dong Ha is a celebrity, the friend reported [the situation] to the police, and they went to the police station together. Earlier, it was reported that the assault occurred from both parties, but that’s the intoxicated person’s one-sided claim.”
After debuting in 2009 through KBS’s “The Accidental Couple,” Dong Ha appeared in dramas including SBS’s “Empire of Gold,” “Three Days,” “Suspicious Partner,” JTBC”s “Last,” KBS’s “Beautiful Mind” and “Chief Kim,” and more. He also stared in the films “Intimate Enemies,” and “Default.”
