Lee Seung Gi And His Fans Make Meaningful Donations To Hospital Patients On His Birthday
Lee Seung Gi’s fans have celebrated the star’s birthday in a special way!
On December 18 of last year, Lee Seung Gi donated 100 million won (approximately $86,700) to Severance Hospital in Sinchon to help patients undergoing rehabilitation.
On January 13, in celebration of the star’s birthday, Lee Seung Gi’s fan club AIREN donated 10 million won (approximately $8,675) to patients at the same hospital undergoing rehabilitation for spinal cord injuries.
Starting in 2009, Lee Seung Gi had donated 1 million won (approximately $867) weekly to families who appeared on KBS’s “Field Report Companion,” for total of 100 million won (approximately $86,700). In addition to the donations, Lee Seung Gi also volunteered to personally seek out the families and help them.
As fans of Lee Seung Gi, AIREN made numerous donations since his debut, including in celebration of his birthday, for his debut anniversary, his concerts, and to his drama sets. They’ve donated 27 tons of rice, coal briquettes, instant noodles, and 2,857 electric fans for a total of 142 million won’s (approximately $123,200’s) worth of donations. They’ve also grown forests in Lee Seung Gi’s name all over the world and volunteered in children’s hospitals.
Lee Seung Gi shared, “For the consistent love I’ve received from the public since my debut, I thought I should have a positive influence on our society, so I donated to the Sinchon Severance Hospital. I am so happy that my fans have joined me once again. I hope to be of at least a little bit of help to those in pain around us so they can be relieved of their suffering and find hope.”
