Kim Hye Yoon Talks About Struggles After Debuting + Winning Best New Actress

Actress Kim Hye Yoon recently revealed her honest thoughts on her rise to fame.

On the January 15 episode of SBS’s “Night of Real Entertainment,” Kim Hye Yoon appeared for an exclusive interview.

During the show, the MC asked the actress, “You spent a fair amount of time appearing in minor roles. Did you ever feel nervous or impatient?” Kim Hye Yoon answered, “Of course I did. This is not a job that has some annual exam or [the option to] enter an agency as an intern, so it felt very unclear. It felt like my dream was really far away.” She continued, “I felt jealous of the people my age coming out on TV and doing well. There were a lot of times where I thought to myself, ‘What am I doing right now?’ However, the people around me would tell me, ‘Every person’s luck is different. Timing is different for each person so don’t get impatient and focus on going down your own path.'”

After appearing in over 40 projects in minor roles since her debut in 2012, Kim Hye Yoon landed a role in JTBC’s hit drama “SKY Castle,” receiving lots of praise from both her co-stars and viewers. Seven years after her debut, Kim Hye Yoon received both the best new actress award and the popularity award in 2019 for her roles in “SKY Castle” and “Extraordinary You.” In her acceptance speech, the actress shared, “I will work to become an actress who can pay back all of this love in 2020.”

Regarding her rewards, Kim Hye Yoon commented, “I couldn’t believe it, and it felt like a dream. Even a year ago my life was not like this. I hope in a year from now I’ll be able to be in this spot with a different project.”
