Bang Shi Hyuk Makes Billboard's List Of International Power Players For 3rd Consecutive Year

Big Hit Entertainment CEO Bang Shi Hyuk has been included on Billboard’s 2020 list of “Power Players of the Year”!

On January 23 local time, Billboard released this year’s list of the industry’s most powerful figures, recognizing those who went above and beyond their job descriptions to “elevate the entire music business.”

In his third consecutive year on the list, Bang Shi Hyuk was included under the “management” sector. The Big Hit founder was lauded not only for BTS’s global success but also for his steps to diversify Big Hit Entertainment, such as TXT’s debut, the acquisition of Source Music, and the launch of the mobile game BTS WORLD.

Other figures on the list were also recognized for their involvement in the international expansion of K-pop. Under the “labels and distributors” sector, CEO Brad Navin and COO Colleen Theis of The Orchard, a large independent distribution company under Sony Music, received acknowledgment for their global partnership with Big Hit Entertainment and for their key role in BTS’s distribution.

Music lawyer Debbie White was listed under the “legal” sector for successfully representing many star clients including BTS, and Warner Group Music was named under the “music groups” sector, with Billboard specifically mentioning the label’s contribution to TWICE’s international success.

Billboard began publishing its annual “Power Players” list in 2014 and has since used it to highlight the most important leaders in the music industry each year.
