If you’re bored and looking to binge-watch a great love story, here are seven dramas for you to check out (or maybe even rewatch).

Warning: minor spoilers for the dramas below.

The Tale of Nokdu

If you’re looking for a romantic comedy in the historical genre, then look no further than “The Tale of Nokdu.” Determined to find out who hired the assassins sent to kill his family, Jeon Nok Du (Jang Dong Yoon) dresses as a woman to infiltrate a secluded village of widows. It’s there that he meets the ever-stubborn and closed-off Dong Dong Joo (Kim So Hyun).

These two are an unlikely pair, and they don’t get along after Dong Joo finds Nok Du going through her private belongings. There’s a bunch of bickering in this drama that makes the leads akin to an old married couple. Dong Joo is the first to discover that Nok Du is, in fact, a man and she helps him keep his secret from everyone else in the village.

There’s a great balance of saeguk political betrayals, near-death scenarios, and heart-swooning romantic scenes that makes “The Tale of Nokdu” easy to binge. If you’re in the mood to settle down with some popcorn and watch royal family betrayals and seemingly star-crossed lovers fight to get their happy ending with their found family then “The Tale of Nokdu” should be next on your list.

Hong Ra On (Kim Yoo Jung) makes a living dressing as a man and pretending to be a love-counselor for other men in the city. She proves to be worthy of her job but things become troublesome when she is sent to reject Master Jung’s (Ahn Se Ha) woman, who unbeknownst to both of them is the crown princess (Jung Hye Sung). However, the princess’s brother, Lee Young (Park Bo Gum), has other plans and goes in her place. Through a string of misunderstandings, Lee Young and Ra On wind up on less than good terms. In fact, she leaves him stranded in a pit. But as fate would have it, she becomes one of his eunuchs and they meet again. Descendants of the Sun

If you’re a person who needs to be hooked in the first five minutes of a show in order to watch it, then “Descendants of the Sun” is a fantastic choice. With an intense hostage situation being the first scene, you’ll be on your toes to see what happens. You’ll see how capable and alluring Captain Yoo Shi Jin (Song Joong Ki) is and there’s a 99.9 percent chance you’ll fall in love. His charms are only tripled when he meets the intelligent and tenacious doctor Kang Mo Yeon (Song Hye Kyo).

While their lives are led by very different oaths — she saves lives for a living while he can kill if ordered to — they quickly become entangled. Their first try at dating seems to always be interrupted by Shi Jin’s job, but they soon find themselves working together to protect the people of Uruk. There’s loads of teasing and tension that keeps you wondering if they’ll ever get together. Of course, all of it is mixed in with covert ops and shady antagonists who just want to make trouble.

If you’re looking for a soft but dependable romance that’s effortlessly merged within high-stake scenarios, then “Descendants of the Sun” is definitely one you’ll want to watch. It even tends to stray away from immature dramatics that you’d find in teenage melodramas, so it’s perfect to watch with a parent and/or older sibling if you want to get them into dramas as well.

Hwarang

Let’s face it, saeguks tend to have some of the most alluring romances. After all, what is more intriguing to watch than two kind souls trying to beat the deceit of a past king in order to be together?

The story follows Moo Myung (Park Seo Joon), who is an orphaned peasant on the outskirts of Silla. He has dreams to enter the inner city with his best friend, Mak Moon (Lee Kwang Soo), who is trying to reunite with his family. Fight My Way

“Fight My Way” is a drama for fans of the childhood-friends-to-lovers trope but with a twist of realism. While childhood connections seem to be a huge cliche in dramas, “Fight My Way” is also a refreshing slice of life drama.

Struggling to find jobs, Choi Ae Ra (Kim Ji Won), Go Dong Man (Park Seo Joon), Baek Seol Hee (Song Ha Yoon), and Kim Joo Man (Ahn Jae Hong) are all fighting for a chance at their wildest dreams. However, things look more rotten than they do shiny when you’re living in a bustling big city with hardly any money to your name. Ae Ra works at a mall where she hopes to get the intercom position, as it’s something akin to her biggest dream: to become a famous announcer. Dong Man is just barely making ends meet working as a contract employee since he gave up MMA fighting. Along the way, they both find themselves unemployed and desperately trying to chase the dreams their younger selves had. While they bicker a lot, you can tell it’s all rooted in deep admiration. Also, the aegyo from both Kim Ji Won and Park Seo Joon is absolutely effortless and hilarious and you’ll find yourself immediately falling for their chemistry.

If you’re looking for a romantic drama that’s comedic but also rooted in realism then you’ll absolutely adore “Fight My Way.”
