Lee Jae Wook Shares What Image He Is Hoping For And Which Joker Left The Biggest Impression On Him
Actor Lee Jae Wook recently took time with Dazed Magazine to pose for a photo shoot.
During the interview, he was asked whose rendition of the character Joker left the biggest impression on him, and he replied, “There are three actors who have played Joker since I was born, and it’s not because I’m a fan of DC and Marvel, but the Joker played by Heath Ledger in ‘Dark Knight’ really shocked me! I wondered how he can act like that and if I would ever be able to do the same, and I was shocked again by the movie ‘Joker’ released last year. I think [Joaquin Phoenix] accurately showed the past of the Joker played by Heath Ledger.”
He continued, “[Joaquin Phoenix] dramatically portrayed the situation in which a weak person is forced to go crazy as well as the limits of human beings. The Joker I knew only had madness, but this was the first Joker who had sadness in him. I understood why Joaquin Phoenix was loved by so many people and why the movie was so well-acclaimed. If the Joker played by Heath Ledger is an irresistible villain in Gotham City, Joaquin Phoenix showed through his acting why it is that we can’t hate Joker.”
When asked what image he wants the public to have of him, Lee Jae Wook shared, “Instead of thinking of an image, I want people to just see me as Lee Jae Wook. However, if a modifier had to be added in front of my name, I would like to have the title of ‘Trusted Actor.’ That’s the hardest part, so I’m going to try really hard.”
The rest of Lee Jae Wook’s interview and photo shoot can be found in the February issue of Dazed Magazine.
