Director Behind Song Ji Hyo And Kim Moo Yeol's New Film Reveals Reasons Why She Cast Them

In their upcoming film “The Trespasser” (working title), Song Ji Hyo and Kim Moo Yeol are showing completely different sides of themselves.

“The Trespasser” is a mystery thriller film about Yoo Jin, a missing woman who returns home after 25 years and her older brother Seo Jin, who slowly finds himself growing more and more suspicious of his younger sister and the things that end up happening within the family.

Director Song Won Pyung, who is taking on the challenge of her first feature film with “The Trespasser,” has opened up about why she chose to cast Song Ji Hyo in the film.

“I thought it was a shame that Song Ji Hyo always ended up playing roles that were bright and playful, very similar to the personality she shows on variety shows,” Song Won Pyung said of her decision to cast Song Ji Hyo for the role of Yoo Jin. “I wanted to be able to discover the side of Song Ji Hyo as an actress that was cool, mysterious, and slightly depressed.”

Song Won Pyung also mentioned Song Ji Hyo’s co-star Kim Moo Yeol, who she said had to tone down his strong demeanor for something more on the delicate side for this role. “I wanted to see more of an emotional side from Kim Moo Yeol that I had yet to see, so I challenged him with that,” she said. “He’s an actor who can do just about anything.”

“Both of the actors have a great sense about them that makes them quick to grasp [their roles], so they both showed an energetic attitude during filming.”

“The Trespasser” premieres on March 12.
