Yuehua Terminates Contract With Chinese Trainee After His Arrest For Fraud Over Face Masks

Yuehua Entertainment has terminated its contract with Chinese trainee Huang Zhibo after he was arrested for fraud.

Xportsnews reports that according to Chinese media outlets on February 13, Huang Zhibo was arrested on February 5 for fraud that involved the sale of face masks. China is currently facing a shortage of face masks due to the coronavirus. It’s reported that after Huang Zhibo accepted pre-payment from people online for the masks, he did not show up at the locations where he promised he would give them to the buyers.

It’s said that he defrauded people out of a total of around 280,000 yuan (approximately $40,000), and he did not actually have any face masks to sell. Huang Zhibo is reportedly currently being questioned by police in detention.

A Yuehua rep in Beijing told news outlet DongA, “It’s true that Huang Zhibo is connected to those fraud suspicions. However, his contract with us has been terminated.” They also apologized for the controversy.

Huang Zhibo took part in the Chinese survival show “All for One” and ranked in ninth place, and he has over 180,000 followers on Weibo.
