Update: Park Seo Joon, Lee Young Ae, And Jang Sung Kyu Donate To Daegu As City Combats COVID-19

Jang Sung Kyu has also made a generous donation to help the people of Daegu.
On February 23, Jang Sung Kyu shared a screenshot on his personal Instagram account, showing that he donated 50 million won (approximately $41,420) to the Community Chest of Korea’s Daegu branch.
Along with the screenshot, Jang Sung Kyu posted a phone conversation he had with a friend living in Daegu. The friend was talking about how his family was even wearing masks at home and not going outside due to COVID-19. They talked about the plans they had made to meet soon, and his friend said they should reschedule because he felt he would be an inconvenience.
Jang Sung Kyu wrote, “The situation has been raised to the highest alert level. Now, I don’t feel comfortable just keeping tabs on COVID-19 and praying. I hope that my small act is able to be of help, even if that help may be small, to the people of Daegu who are trembling in fear.”

As of 9:50 p.m. KST, Korea has confirmed 602 cases of COVID-19.
As of 7 p.m. KST on February 22, Korea has 433 confirmed cases of COVID-19, and a significant portion of recent cases has been coming from the area, prompting Daegu to be designated as a “special management zone” by the Korean government.
In response, Lee Young Ae and Park Seo Joon have made donations to the city in the hopes of helping the city.
On February 21, the Daegu branch of the Community Chest of Korea stated, “Actress Lee Young Ae donated 50 million won (approximately $41,420) to help the citizens of Daegu combat COVID-19.” Lee Young Ae stated, “It appears that the situation has worsened for the citizens of Daegu due to COVID-19. Our family hopes that the people of Daegu will be able to overcome these difficult times.”
It was also confirmed on February 22 that Park Seo Joon had made a donation to the city of Daegu as the local Community Chest of Korea branch stated, “After watching news reports that Daegu does not have enough negative pressure rooms and medical equipment to treat COVID-19 cases, Park Seo Joon donated 100 million won (approximately $82, 850) to help purchase the necessary equipment.”
