SBS Drama PD Reportedly Arrested After Drunkenly Assaulting Passersby

On March 5, it was reported by MBC News that an SBS drama PD had been arrested.

The report stated that the PD assaulted passersby while intoxicated and that he did not calm down even at the police station. The incident was stated to have occurred on March 1 in Seoul. The man had a bottle of soju in his right hand, which he sprinkled over a passerby. Those who were with him took the bottle and tried to stop him, but he aggressively took the bottle back. He threw the bottle and began hitting those walking by in the face. It escalated into a large fight once others began retaliating.

An interviewed witness shared, “To my knowledge, I thought the fight began because the man threw the soju bottle. We had gone to deter the situation.”

After the man was arrested, he kept creating a disturbance at the police station, even making sexist remarks at a young policewoman. He was booked for charges of violence, assault, and abuse.

The report continued to say that the man was a mid-range PD in his thirties who had been the main PD for an SBS Monday-Tuesday drama up until last year. Considering the man’s previous convictions, the police requested an arrest warrant, but it was rejected by the prosecution.
