Jung Joon Young Charged With Fine On Top Of Prison Sentence As Verdict Is Made On Summary Indictment

Jung Joon Young, who has been sentenced to six years in prison for aggravated rape (refers to rape that involves two or more perpetrators), has been fined for an additional charge.

On April 3, it was reported that the Seoul District Courts fined Jung Joon Young for one million won (approximately $810) after he was summarily indicted for violating laws related to prostitution. Burning Sun’s Mr. Kim, who was also indicted along with Jung Joon Young, was sentenced with a fine of two million won (approximately $1,620).

In the process of indicting Seungri with charges of mediating prostitution services, habitual gambling, and violation of the Foreign Exchange Transactions Act in January, prosecutors also charged four people including Jung Joon Young and Mr. Kim with a summary indictment (a judgment made by the court without a full in-person trial) on prostitution charges. They were charged for participating in the violation of laws related to sexual crimes overseas, and the courts have now issued fines as they found the charges to be with merit.

Jung Joon Young currently faces six years in prison for aggravated rape. He has appealed his case with the first appeal hearing being held in February.
