Park Seo Joon, Sweet Revenge, And Food: What To Watch After “Itaewon Class”

What do we do now that “Itaewon Class” is official over? One of the reasons why “Itaewon Class” was such a good drama was because of its unique script and amazing cast. The series wasn’t only about one thing. It touched on so many different themes that it made it relatable for basically anyone. But, now that it’s over, what do we watch to help mend the pain? Here are just a few recommendations!

The talented lead, Park Seo Joon

One of the best parts about “Itaewon Class” was seeing Park Seo Joon shine in doing the very thing he’s amazing at, which is acting. How gifted he is at acting and how he can show such an array of emotions in one episode never ceases to amaze. It’s not the last we’re going to see of Park Seo Joon, but if you need something to see him asap, here are some solid recommendations.

Witch’s Romance

Ban Ji Yeon (Uhm Jung Hwa) is a career woman who has no time for love. She had her heart broken in the past and does not want to commit again, which is why when she meets Yoon Dong Ha (Park Seo Joon), she almost has a one-night stand with him. When she discovers that he’s actually 14 years younger than her, she pushes him away and vows never to see him. Except that Dong Ha already has his heart set on her and is willing to do whatever it takes to win her affections.

“Witch’s Romance” was probably Park Seo Joon’s first big rol that put him on the map and won the hearts of viewers. His portrayal as the young and innocent Yoon Dong Ha who wears his heart on his sleeve is just too swoon-worthy. Seeing him in such a vulnerable role was the perfect start to his powerhouse acting career and we’ve really only seen him produce hits since. You’re guaranteed to fall for Dong Ha’s charm and there’s the added pleasure of hearing Park Seo Joon sing for the OST.

The theme of revenge

The part that made “Itaewon Class” so exhilarating and enthralling was how we really wanted Park Sae Ro Yi to avenge his father’s death. There were other themes in the series, but the revenge one drives the series and is what made it so fun to watch. If you loved this aspect, here are some more that you definitely have to check out!

The Innocent Man

Kang Ma Ru (Song Joong Ki) is on a mission to get revenge on the woman who ruined his life. Ma Ru made the biggest mistake of his life when he took the blame for a crime that was committed by a woman he loved named Han Jae Hee (Park Shi Yeon). After spending time in jail and having thrown away his promising future, Ma Ru decides to do whatever he can to take Jae Hee down.

This melodrama thriller is perfect if you like edge-of-your-seat drama. It’s surprising to see Song Joong Ki in a bad boy role, but he really does own it and will definitely keep you entertained. There’s also the love story aspect between Ma Ru and Seo Eun Ki (Moon Chae Won) that will simultaneously break your heart and give you butterflies. There’s so much depth to the script and you’ll probably end up binge-watching it!

“City Hunter” is a great revenge K-drama that has not only a lot of great action scenes, but the love story is also hot and heavy. The chemistry between Park Min Young and Lee Min Ho is through the roof, which is a great balance to all the action. The story is detailed and smart, which is definitely appreciated.

“The Guardian”

Lee Si Young plays a cop by the name of Jo Soo Ji, who is trying to avenge the death of her daughter. The murderer had gotten away with it and left Soo Ji determined to take matters into her own hands. When her attempt goes awry, she meets Jang Do Han (Kim Young Kwang), who has his own team of experts that help him take down criminals. It is with Do Han and this team that Soo Ji is able to have a standing chance at getting revenge.

This drama is top-notch in terms of revenge stories. The script is compelling and it’s one of those dramas where you get sucked in from the first episode. It doesn’t drag on and the action keeps you on the edge of your seat, which is what people look for in an action/thriller. Despite the fact that there isn’t any romance in the series, the story makes up for it as well as the acting. It’s SO good!

Dramas about food

Although “Itaewon Class” isn’t technically considered a foodie’s K-drama, the basis of the story is around food and Park Sae Ro Yi’s passion for food as a result of his father. There are several scenes throughout the drama that really make you want to reach into the screen and eat what they’re eating. If you’re looking for some more shows that revolve around food, here are some recommendations.

“Chocolate”

Moon Cha Young (Ha Ji Won) is a chef who runs into her first love, Lee Kang (Yoon Kye Sang), at the hospital. She falls ill and gets treated by him as he is a surgeon. Kang doesn’t recognize her, but Cha Young recognizes him right away. Cha Young later discovers that she’s dating Kang’s best friend, Kwon MIn Sung (Yoo Teo). She breaks up with him and tries to get away from Kang, but destiny keeps bringing the two together.

“Chocolate” is full of scenes that will have your mouth watering. Based on the title, you can expect some baking and making of delicious chocolate truffles as well as some delicious Korean meals. Seeing both of the main leads have their hand in cooking provides such a sense of comfort, and aside from the fact that it’s a series about food, it’s also a story that will touch and heal your soul. It’s the perfect drama to watch and cuddle into!

Wok of Love

Seo Poong (Junho) is a talented chef who gets fired from his high-end cooking gig at a hotel. He ends up working at a Chinese restaurant right across the street. The restaurant has no customers and is nearing bankruptcy, but Seo Poong takes it upon himself to turn it into a successful restaurant. He is hired by Doo Chil Seong (Jang Hyuk) and becomes the manager. He then hires Dan Sae Woo (Jung Ryeo Won) as a server and the two become romantically involved, which is unfortunate for Chil Seong as he also has feelings for Sae Woo. The three work together to make the restaurant successful, but they are also entangled in this messy love triangle.

It will be a miracle if you can get through even one episode without suddenly getting hungry. The detail to the cooking process and seeing various characters indulge in Seo Poong’s delicious cuisine will seriously have you hunting down some food just like it. In addition to the wonderful food, you’ll get a good amount of bromance between Jun Ho and Jang Hyuk as well as some heart-fluttering romance with the male leads and Jung Ryeo Won. Your heart will be torn as they both try and win the love of Sae Woo. Go food and love!
