Among eight new challengers for the throne, the fourth match-up of Round 1 was between “Hamster” and “Lobster.” The two gave a spirited rendition of Papaya’s “Listen to My Words.”

Oh My Girl’s Hyojung, who was a panelist on the show, said that her group had previously done a remake of this song. She added, “The contestants really put a different spin on it” and guessed that Lobster was a girl group senior.

The two contestants then had a dance-off, where Lobster showed her dance skills and flexibility. Hamster chose to cover Park Ji Yoon’s “Coming-of-Age Ceremony,” surprising everyone with their unexpected choice. MC Kim Sung Joo also inflated expectations by hinting, “One of these people was a Hallyu star in the Korean music industry.”

In the end, Hamster won the round with 20 votes to Lobster’s 1. Lobster unmasked her identity while singing a cover of Jang Nara’s “Sweet Dream,” revealing herself as former Wonder Girls member Hyerim!

Hyerim said, “This is my first time standing on stage in four years. My last performance was Wonder Girls’ ‘Why So Lonely.’ I was really nervous because this was the first time that I sang my heart out alone. That’s why it was a meaningful performance.” I thought that ‘The King of Mask Singer’ was only for singers who could really belt it out. I’m surprised they even considered me.”
