Watch: Jang Ki Yong Puts On Impressive Vocal + Rap Performance And Shares His Goals On “Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook”
On the April 17 broadcast of “Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook,” Jang Ki Yong appeared as a guest and discussed his career and even staged a few performances.
Jang Ki Yong shared, “I couldn’t sleep. It was because I was excited to see Yoo Hee Yeol for the first time in a while and because I was worried whether I would do well.”
Yoo Hee Yeol and Jang Ki Yong originally met on the set of IU‘s music video for “Red Shoes.” Regarding their second and third meetings, Jang Ki Yong explained, “You helped relieve some of my nerves. You told me to call you after, but you didn’t give me your phone number. I think you had to go to the bathroom.” Yoo Hee Yeol apologized and responded, “I’ll video call you at two in the morning.”
Jang Ki Yong also spoke about his appearance on the second season of “Tribe of Hip Hop.” He revealed that he was not easily embarrassed, sharing, “I’ve been on stage for a festival but I wasn’t nervous while singing. I wanted to show off the talent that I’ve fostered from my hometown Ulsan.”
Even while busily filming dramas, Jang Ki Yong revealed that he often practiced singing at coin karaoke rooms. He explained an instance, saying, “I had about 25 minutes. After scanning the area, I found a karaoke room. I went and practiced with my manager. We spent about 4000 won (approximately $3).”
When asked what his dream was, Jang Ki Yong shared, “I want to become a good actor. I don’t exactly know what being a good actor means, but I would like to become one. I also want to become a good father. While living a normal life, I’d like to live passionately both at home and at work.”
Lastly, he shared with Yoo Hee Yeol what he had told his producers in an earlier meeting. He explained, “If the day comes where I’ve grown old and can look back on my twenties, I want to tell my son about appearing on ‘Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook.’ I would tell him that it was a good memory.”
Jang Ki Yong also put his musical talents on display, singing Kim Feel’s “One Love” and rapping “We Are” by Woo Won Jae, Loco, and Gray.
