Watch: Idols Compete With Covers Of BTS, EXO, TWICE, BLACKPINK, + More On

Idols went to head-to-head in an exciting dance cover competition on SBS’s “Dancing Idol”!

On April 18, SBS aired a brand-new “K-pop cover dance festival” on its official YouTube channel SBS KPOP. The show, which was hosted by Super Junior’s Shindong and Oh My Girl’s YooA, featured six idol groups—ONEUS, VERIVERY, Cherry Bullet, Rocket Punch, OnlyOneOf, and ELRIS—facing off in two rounds of competition.

In the first “legend K-pop cover” challenge, each of the idol groups covered an iconic song by a senior artist. ELRIS performed GFRIEND’s “Me Gustas Tu,” VERIVERY covered EXO’s “Love Me Right,” Cherry Bullet took on miss A’s “Bad Girl Good Girl,” ONEUS danced to 2PM’s “My House,” Rocket Punch covered BTS’s “Boy In Luv,” and OnlyOneOf performed SHINee’s “Sherlock.”

At the end of the six performances, each of the groups voted for the competitor they thought had done the best job, and once the votes were tallied, the MCs announced the winner of the popularity vote.

The second round of competition was a “random cover dance battle,” in which two representatives from each group took the stage to face off against the other teams in a random dance challenge. Without knowing in advance which songs would be played, the twelve competitors had to put their knowledge of idol choreography to the test.

All six groups went on to impress the MCs with their ability to dance on the spot to hit songs like TWICE’s “YES or YES,” NCT 127’s “Kick It,” ITZY’s “WANNABE,” Super Junior’s “Black Suit,” Oh My Girl’s “Secret Garden,” BTS’s “ON,” Red Velvet’s “Bad Boy,” Lovelyz’s “Ah-Choo,” BLACKPINK’s “As If It’s Your Last,” and IZ*ONE’s “FIESTA.”
