"Produce 101" PD And CP Continue To Deny Bribery + Ahn Joon Young Apologizes

The producing director (PD) Ahn Joon Young and chief producer (CP) Kim Yong Bum of “Produce 101” have denied claims of bribery.

On April 27, the Seoul Central District Courts held the fourth trial involving Ahn Joon Young, Kim Yong Bum, and CJ ENM representatives regarding the violation of the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act by entertainment agency representatives.

During the trial, Ahn Joon Young confirmed that he met with agency representatives for drinks but attributed the meeting to promoting social connections and not negotiating bribery.

Ahn Joon Young apologized, saying, “I am deeply regretful and reflecting [on my actions]. It was painful that I couldn’t apologize to those who were hurt. I am very sorry.”

Previously, Ahn Joon Young and Kim Yong Bum were suspected of manipulating viewers’ votes for “Produce 101.” Ahn Joon Young was also under suspicion of receiving money from entertainment agency representatives at an adult entertainment bar.

The next sentencing will take place on May 12 at 11 a.m. KST.
