Watch: Yook Sungjae Is Confused By The Afterlife In New Teaser For “Mystic Pop-Up Bar”
JTBC’s upcoming Wednesday-Thursday drama “Mystic Pop-Up Bar” has released a new teaser!
“Mystic Pop-Up Bar” is based on a popular webtoon and tells the story of a mysterious pojangmacha (an outdoor drinking establishment) run by an ill-tempered woman named Wol Joo (Hwang Jung Eum), an innocent part-time employee named Han Kang Bae (BTOB’s Yook Sungjae), and a former afterlife detective named Chief Gwi (Choi Won Young). Together, this mysterious pop-up bar visits customers in their dreams to help resolve their problems.
In Korea, there is a popular belief that dreaming of your ancestors will bring you luck in the lottery. The new teaser for “Mystic Pop-Up Bar” takes a humorous spin on this old wives’ tale by imagining the competition among the ancestors in the afterlife to appear in their descendants’ dreams and show them the winning lottery numbers.
Although she is not competing, Wol Joo is very enthusiastic about this competition, a cross between a modern sporting event and a games-based variety show, which is judged by Chief Gwi and hosted by Department Head Yeom (Lee Joon Hyuk). Kang Bae, who is baffled to find that the pojangmacha is a gateway between his world and the afterlife, also gets swept up in the enthusiasm.
The results of the lottery will be revealed in Episode 4. Choi Won Young said, “The script was funny and the scale of filming was huge.”
“Mystic Pop-Up Bar” premieres on May 20 at 9:30 p.m. KST.
