The Korea Creative Content Agency and South Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism are teaming up to sponsor a remote concert event to promote K-pop, encourage social distancing, and give hope to people suffering due to the global COVID-19 pandemic.

The concert event is titled “Trip to K-Pop” and will take place on May 19, 20, and 21. A different lineup of artists will perform each night at the CKL stage in Seoul. Each concert will start at 7 p.m. KST and last about 80 minutes.

The event will be hosted by B1A4’s Sandeul. Performing on May 19 are iKON, Soran, BIBI, and Natty. Performing on May 20 are Kim Jae Hwan, APRIL, Daybreak, and Isaac Hong. Performing on May 21 are Oh My Girl, KARD, Balming Tiger, Seo Samuel, and Martin Smith.

Kim Young Joon, the director of the Korea Creative Content Agency, stated, “Through the medium of K-pop, which has become beloved worldwide, this is a place from which we hope to send a message of hope and support to the people who are weary due to COVID-19. In order to prevent mass infection of COVID-19, we are maintaining social distancing. This concert event is an opportunity for the country to experience culture together despite this social distancing in our everyday lives.”

A source from SBS Medianet stated, “‘Trip to K-pop’ is a concert to support and encourage people around the world who are struggling due to COVID-19. We hope that it will be a time in which people can support each other and have fun in the safety of their own living rooms.”

The event will stream live through both online and TV channels, including SBS MTV, SBS FiL, Naver V Live, U+Idol Live, and the YouTube channels for the Korea Creative Content Agency and THE K-POP. Fans will also be able to chat in realtime with the musicians through the U+Idol Live app.
