Reports Of Big Hit Acquiring Pledis Entertainment Resurface + Both Agencies Respond

Reports of Big Hit Entertainment acquiring Pledis Entertainment have surfaced once more.

On May 18, media outlet The Fact released a report quoting a source from the music industry who is allegedly familiar with the internal affairs of Big Hit Entertainment and Pledis Entertainment. The source stated, “The two companies have completed final negotiations for the merger and have signed a contract. All they have left to do is to make the official announcement.” The Fact reported that a different source had also confirmed this information.

However, Big Hit Entertainment and Pledis Entertainment both shared to Star News, “Various opportunities are open to us, but nothing has been decided.

Reports of Big Hit Entertainment acquiring Pledis Entertainment initially came up in January, and Big Hit Entertainment denied the reports at the time. When it was announced that Pledis Entertainment group SEVENTEEN would be joining the fan community platform Weverse owned by Big Hit Entertainment’s subsidiary beNX, speculations of a merger reemerged. At a corporate briefing, Big Hit Entertainment’s co-CEO Lenzo Yoon clarified that the company will collaborate with more artists from Korea and overseas who are not a part of the Big Hit Labels and that SEVENTEEN was the first case of this.
