Yubin Talks About JYP's Influence, Becoming A CEO, And Hyerim's Marriage

Yubin recently sat down for an interview ahead of her solo comeback “yaya (ME TIME).”

Earlier this year, after 13 years at JYP Entertainment, Yubin set up her own company, rrr Entertainment. Hyerim, her former bandmate in Wonder Girls, also joined her agency.

Yubin said, “Even after I left JYP, Park Jin Young continued to take care of me. He gave me lots of advice. He also supported me when Hyerim decided to join. Rather than leaving my agency, I think of myself as someone who started living on her own for the first time. He feels like a parent who keeps worrying about me. When you start living alone, you have a lot of big dreams. Now that I’ve taken this step, I realize that there are a lot of things I need to do. I am learning a little by little and becoming a true part of society.”

Yubin also talked about Hyerim’s recent marriage announcement. She said, “I’ve been watching over them for a while. When I’m around them, I don’t even think to get jealous. But when I watch them on TV, it feels different. I didn’t know they were this sweet. I was so jealous. I think they named the program well [‘Don’t Be Jealous‘]. I felt a lot of different things. My own marriage? I’m still not there yet, haha. I want to be free. But when I watch that show, I think, ‘Is this what stability feels like?’ and wonder if I want to get married. Rather than speeding up marriage or delaying it, I want to go with the flow. I want to be natural, without deciding on things beforehand.”

She added, “I knew about their marriage plans a year ago. They were planning to get married in January, but it got pushed back. I know that [Shin] Min Chul is a good person, and when I see Hyerim with him, I can see that she feels stable. I once thought that Hyerim would be the next Wonder Girls member to get married after Sunye. She likes cooking and cute things. After Hyerim? I used to say it was me, but I think I need to shut up and wait. It’s hard to know anything about people.” She added with a laugh, “I thought that I would be the next to marry after Sunye, but Hyerim got married before me.”
