Song Joong Ki Announces Decision To Step Down From Upcoming Film

Song Joong Ki has announced that he will be leaving the cast of the upcoming film “Season of You and Me” (literal translation).

On June 5, Song Joong Ki’s agency History D&C stated that he would be dropping out of the movie due to unexpected scheduling conflicts caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

A representative of the agency commented, “Song Joong Ki will not be appearing in ‘Season of You and Me.’ Due to this unavoidable situation, he is currently adjusting his schedule for the second half of the year. Nothing has yet been confirmed [about his upcoming plans].”

The representative added, “Song Joong Ki is planning to focus on his scheduled promotions for his movie ‘Space Sweepers,’ which will be released this summer.”

Earlier this year, Song Joong Ki’s upcoming movie “Bogotá” made the decision to halt filming due to safety concerns following the outbreak of COVID-19. As the movie was being filmed on location in Colombia, the cast and crew returned to Korea ahead of schedule in March, and the producers later announced that filming would be pushed back to next year.

Song Joong Ki initially planned to film “Season of You and Me,” a biopic about the late singer-songwriter Yoo Jae Ha, after wrapping up filming for “Bogotá” in May. However, due to the latter film unexpectedly postponing its production schedule to next year, the actor has been forced to make changes to his schedule for the remainder of 2020.

Meanwhile, Song Joong Ki’s upcoming sci-fi blockbuster “Space Sweepers” is gearing up for a release later this summer.
