Lee Joo Young Shares Thoughts On Training With Real Baseball Players For New Film "Baseball Girl"

Lee Joo Young shared how she prepared for her role in the upcoming film “Baseball Girl”!

“Baseball Girl” will follow the life of Joo Soo In, who dreams of becoming a professional baseball player. Although she has earned the title of “genius baseball girl” because of the high speed at which she can throw, she faces hurdles in achieving her dreams simply because of her gender.

At a press screening for the film, held on June 8 in Yongsan District in Seoul, Lee Joo Young spoke about how she trained with real baseball players to prepare for her role as Joo Soo In. She remarked, “While preparing for the film, I trained with real baseball players for about one month. It wasn’t a very long time, so it didn’t prepare me enough to look like a real pro baseball player.”

Lee Joo Young elaborated on how her training helped her understand her character, saying, “Just like Joo Soo In, I trained alongside men who were preparing to become professional players. Although talking with the director about my character’s story gave me some hints, I think the emotions I felt while undergoing real baseball training were similar to the emotions that Joo Soo In would feel. All of these things gave me guidance to better carry out my role.”

The actress humbly added, “After watching the film, I’m not sure how realistic my pitching form or other training will seem. I trained as hard as I could within the time allowed so as not to cause trouble for the people I trained with who were actually trying to become professional players.”

“Baseball Girl” is set to be released on June 18.
