Former Girl Group Member And Actress Charms With Her Sweet Voice On “The King Of Mask Singer”
On the June 28 episode of MBC’s “The King of Mask Singer,” a new round of challengers emerged.
The first match-up of Round 1 was between Churros and Dalgona. The two female artists sang a cover of Wonder Girls’ “Be My Baby.” Wonder Girls’ Yubin, who was in the audience as a panelist, said, “I enjoyed the performance, which had more of a summer vibe than the original song.” Hyerim added, “Churros reminded me of our leader, Sunye. She’s good at hitting the note and letting it fly.”
In the end, the panel voted 12 to 8 in Dalgona’s favor. Churros sang BoA’s “Valenti” before unmasking to reveal herself as Rainbow’s Seungah.
Oh Seungah debuted with the girl group Rainbow in 2009. In 2016, DSP Media announced that Rainbow was disbanding because the members’ contracts had expired. In 2019, the group reunited for their 10th anniversary. Seungah has also been active as an actress, appearing in productions like “Grand Prince” and “Secrets and Lies.”
After unmasking herself, Seungah said, “It has been 12 years since my debut, but this is the first time I’ve sung a song on stage by myself. After filming a drama for six months, I wanted to appear on a variety show again, so I didn’t hesitate when the casting offer for this show came in.”
She continued, “I got vocal lessons for the first time in a long time. I was taught that if I held on to a wooden rolling pin, the kind used to make dumplings, while I sang, it would give me more strength in my voice.”
