After soaring to an all-time high last week, SBS’s “Backstreet Rookie” saw its viewership ratings fall for its latest episode.

On July 3, the romantic comedy starring Ji Chang Wook and Kim Yoo Jung scored its lowest average nationwide rating to date. According to Nielsen Korea, the fifth episode of “Backstreet Rookie” scored average ratings of 4.6 percent and 5.8 percent for its two parts, marking a significant dip from the personal record achieved by its previous episode on June 27.

Although the drama’s viewership ratings once sunk to 3.7 percent (for the first half of its second episode), the latest broadcast marked its lowest average nationwide rating yet, in addition to its lowest rating to date for the second half of an episode.

With its ratings seemingly on an unpredictable roller coaster ride, industry watchers are keeping a close eye on the drama to see whether viewers will return for its next episode on July 4.
