Watch: Zico Teaches Yoo Hee Yeol His New "Summer Hate" Challenge + Explains Misconception About His Collab With Rain
Block B’s Zico performed his new track “Summer Hate” for the first time on “Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook”!
On the July 3 broadcast of KBS 2TV’s “Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook,” Zico appeared as a guest to chat about his new EP “RANDOM BOX.”
After performing “Extreme” (from his first studio album “Thinking”) and his new song “No You Can’t,” Zico put on an exciting performance of his latest title track “Summer Hate” for the first time on TV.
Following all the buzz surrounding his “Any Song challenge,” Zico also introduced his new “Summer Hate” dance challenge. He hilariously commented, “I usually follow the saying ‘Leave while they’re still applauding,’ but I’m going to go against that for the first time and try one more [challenge].”
Zico taught Yoo Hee Yeol the dance, praising how quickly he was picking up the moves, and the two then adorably took on the challenge together.
Later, Zico spoke about collaborating with Rain, with whom he is currently appearing together on Mnet’s “I-LAND” as producers. As Rain’s “Gang” recently went viral nearly three years after its initial release, Zico clarified that the singer’s “Summer Hate” feature had nothing to do with the recent success of Rain’s 2017 song.
Zico explained, “We finished working on this way before the ‘Gang’ syndrome. I asked him to participate as a sort of homage, and he gladly agreed. I just hope people recognize that I’m not trying to piggyback [on his success] as a latecomer.”
After its release on July 1, “Summer Hate” shot to the top of multiple major realtime charts in Korea, where it is still maintaining a high ranking.
