Smart Celebrities Who Were Top Students In School

While school is a place to learn, make friends, and develop life skills, the majority of us can agree that it’s more often stressful than not. However, unlike many people, there are the lucky few who thrive in academia and thoroughly enjoy and excel at the art of studying.

Here are seven brainiacs of the Korean entertainment industry who have gotten the highest scores in their grade during their school years!

Nam Ji Hyun

In 2014, Nam Ji Hyun received an early admission to attend Sogang University with a major in psychology and graduated earlier this February. The actress was also a star student growing up, placing first in middle school. In high school, Nam Ji Hyun consistently placed in the top five students despite acting in a variety of projects throughout her childhood.

Kim Tae Hee

When Kim Tae Hee was in middle school, she received perfect scores in every subject for three years straight, easily landing the top spot in her grade. In a previous broadcast of MBC every1’s “Star The Secret,” Kim Tae Hee’s old teacher shared, “Kim Tae Hee’s concentration during class time was so high that she would make the teacher nervous. In the entirety of my career, I haven’t had a student as perfect as Kim Tae Hee.” On top of that, Kim Tae Hee most likely placed in the top 1-1.5 percent in the country when she took her college entrance exam, as she was accepted into the prestigious Seoul National University.

Yoo In Na

On a broadcast of SBS’s “Heroes,” Yoo In Na showed off her history of placing first during school and receiving perfect scores. She commented, “When I was in elementary school, there was a time I placed No. 1. Until I was in fourth grade, like everyone else, I was pretty good at studying.” Yoo In Na continued, “There was one time when I was the only one in my class to receive all perfect scores. My teacher said ‘Whoever got all perfect scores, stand up’ and I remember being the only person to stand up.”

Super Junior’s Kyuhyun

Kyuhyun has shared his academic achievements on a variety of broadcasts, most notably on SBS’s “Running Man.” During his appearance, he revealed that he had not only been the top student at his school, but that he had also received multiple awards in various math competitions. In an appearance on KBS2’s “Happy Together,” he explained, “I received a prize from the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology for math. I was pretty talented in school.”

Yoo Byung Jae

On an episode of “Problematic Men,” Yoo Byung Jae shared his past report cards. MC Jun Hyun Moo introduced him saying, “During school, he was the top student at his school and received a perfect math score on his college entrance exam. After attending Sogang University for communication and media studies, he made his debut as a screenwriter.” Yoo Byung Jae explained, “I didn’t always place first, but I did sometimes. However, I always placed in the top 10.”

Im Siwan

On an episode of KBS2’s “1 vs. 100,” Im Siwan revealed that he had experienced placing at the top of his class before. He shared, “I placed first in both my class and my grade, and I was the vice-president in middle school and high school.” The star continued, “When I was in high school, I studied really hard thinking that that I’d be able to stop once I got into university. However, once I got to university, I had to study even more.”

Kim So Hyun

Like Nam Ji Hyun, despite being a child actress, Kim So Hyun previously revealed that she had excelled throughout school. On an episode of “Strong Heart” in 2012, the actress shared, “I placed first one time in fourth grade,” bringing out a recent report card. On the report card, she showed off her impressive scores of 91.5 in language, 87.4 in math, and 92.7 in science. Kim So Hyun commented, “These are the grades I got from studying diligently while filming. This time, I missed a test because I was filming the drama ‘I Miss You.’ I’m the type to study really hard once I begin.”
