Ji Hyun Woo, Park Gun Il, And B1A4's Gongchan Share How They Prepared For Roles As Psychiatrist, Flight Attendant, And Bodyguard

On August 11, the upcoming MBC every1 drama “Lonely Enough to Love” held a press conference with its cast and crew.

“Lonely Enough to Love” is about housemates in their 20s and 30s who want to enjoy their freedom without the seriousness of dating but also don’t want to be lonely.

Ji Hyun Woo plays Cha Kang Woo, a psychiatrist with a peculiar personality. He said, “It’s my first time playing a psychiatrist, so I went to one in real life to get a consultation. I wanted to see what the atmosphere would be like and how the doctor would talk to patients. I wanted to see what kind of people would come, so I visited multiple times. My character has both a boyish and mature charm, so I thought hard about how to portray both sides. I saw both entertaining and serious issues [at the psychiatrist]. I think that Kang Woo’s appeal lies in his sincere empathy and his healthy words.”

Kim So Eun plays Lee Na Eun, an aspiring novelist who works as a copy editor and part-time café worker and has refused to date for the past four years. She said, “As I read the script, I related a lot to Na Eun’s dialogue and narration. I also thought the setting of a co-living house was fresh and new. The character was fun and cute, so I decided to pick the project. The narration is something that people in their 20s and 30s can relate to. I admired how she kept chasing her dreams even in the midst of harsh reality. I think that the viewers will be able to relate to that.”

Park Gun Il plays Kang Hyun Jin, a flight attendant with strong principles and Lee Na Eun’s close friend. He said, “When I worked in Japan, I took a lot of airplanes. I recalled everything I could from that time to perfect the flight attendant side of my character. We have a lot of similarities. I was able to immerse myself in him, so it was easy. He has the kind of ‘male/female friendship’ experience that everyone has had at least once. He is strict about managing himself and has a lot of pride in the future, but he changes when he is in front of someone he loves.”

B1A4’s Gongchan plays Jung Hoon, an elite bodyguard who has worked for chaebols and celebrities. He said, “Bodyguards have the image of being healthy, good at managing themselves, and keeping you safe. I usually exercise and manage my diet. I am trying to change my daily patterns in order to live a more healthy life. Jung Hoon is quiet and the type to take care of you without saying much, but he occasionally has a clumsy and cute charm.”

He added, “As a singer, you can get energy directly from communicating with the fans. As an actor, you have to keep playing the same character for a long time, but you get to create that person as you keep playing him.”

“Lonely Enough to Love” premieres on August 11 at 10:50 p.m. KST and will be available on Viki.
