TREASURE has made their long-awaited debut!

YG Entertainment’s newest boy group recently made an impressive entrance into the industry with their debut single album “THE FIRST STEP : CHAPTER ONE” and the title track “BOY.”

Ahead of their debut, the group took some time to answer questions that fans submitted via Soompi’s Instagram.

What are you looking forward to the most after your debut?

Choi Hyun Suk: I’m most excited about making our music known to the world!

Is there anything that worried you before your debut?

Jihoon: We felt a lot of pressure because our debut preparations took a long time. We want to show everything we’ve prepared, and there was some uneasiness about whether we’d be able to do so.

Which member suits the debut concept the best?

Yoon Jae Hyuk: I can’t choose just one member. I’ll say TREASURE. You’ll be able to feel that all 12 members are integral to the team and are each shining in their own ways within their positions.

What are the special charms that differentiate TREASURE from other K-pop groups?

Doyoung: It’s our 12 diverse charms! Out of those, we will first show you our freshness!

What kind of artist do you want to be?

So Jung Hwan: We will become a group that leaves our mark in history!

What do you want to achieve during this year?

Park Jeong Woo: We would like to enter the top 100 on domestic music charts! Our biggest goal is to live up to our fans’ expectations and constantly grow.

You guys entered a Billboard chart before debut. How do you feel about that?

Junkyu: We feel so thankful to our fans for giving us such a great honor even before our debut, and it became a source of motivation for us to work harder to prepare.

What’s your favorite part in the music video?

Mashiho: Definitely the group choreography scene in the stadium. It’s even more memorable because it was the first scene we shot in our first music video. I remember we all did our best together to do the group choreography.

What will you do for fans if you win on a music show?

Yoon Jae Hyuk: We once filmed a cute performance video wearing animal pajamas for our “Going Crazy” performances. We will film a performance video like that with fun disguises like emojis!! We’re ready to do anything if it’s what our fans want!

What concepts would you like to try in the future?

Asahi: We’re a group consisting of diverse members, so we want to attempt as many concepts as we can!

Which artist would you like to collaborate with?

Jihoon: We can’t dare to choose a sunbaenim (senior artist). Instead, we will do our best so that they will think, “They’re good. I’d like to work with them.” We want to become artists like that!

Did you receive any advice from your senior artists at YG Entertainment?

Choi Hyun Suk: What I remember the most is when we were told to not get full of ourselves thinking we are perfect and to endlessly practice while doubting ourselves. The advice has become a source of determination for us to get ourselves together and work hard again whenever we are tired.

How did your relationship as a group change after being together for one to two years?

Bang Ye Dam: We have spent so much time together to the point that the one to two years felt like 10 to 20 years, and we were able to become close enough to become no different from brothers! The preparation period was a time that really felt like a treasure to us.

If you could travel abroad with your members, where would you like to go, and why?

Yoshi: I want to go to Los Angeles or New York together. The members always talk about them a lot, and they are great places where cultural industries, such as music or fashion that each of us like, thrive!

What made you fall in love with music?

Haruto: There was probably a different reason for each member, but it is really true that we have gathered in one place through the music of YG’s senior artists like BIGBANG, WINNER, iKON, BLACKPINK, and AKMU. We are boys who love YG’s music!

Who do you think will do the best on variety shows?

Junkyu: Jeong Woo and Jihoon. If you watch our video content “Treasure Map,” you will immediately be able to feel their hyperness that doesn’t wear out and witty speech.

What dramas or movies have you watched lately?

Jihoon: The members all watched “The Truman Show” together recently. It left a strong impression because the main character’s story, in which he receives the public’s attention from the beginning and breaks the barriers he was confined by, seemed to reflect our determination. It’s like TREASURE’s first step and leap forward hailed as “THE FIRST STEP.” You’re looking forward to it, right?

What kind of fashion do you all have?

Doyoung: As we usually spend our days practicing, we tend to mostly wear comfortable sweats. But at the same time, the 12 members each have our own unique sense of fashion. It will be fun to discover the small details [of our fashion] shown through various content!

Which member talks the most in TREASURE’s group chat?

Yoshi: If something funny comes to Ye Dam’s mind even when walking along the street, he sends it to our group chat. You could say he is an expert at everyday jokes. Jihoon and Jae Hyuk endlessly react to what the members say. There are times when they send reactions even when nothing was said, haha.

What kinds of videos do you watch the most on YouTube?

Bang Ye Dam: I tend to enjoy watching channels with music-related content such as Coachella and the BET Awards. I marvel at and also receive inspiration by watching the creatives of prominent artists through diverse content. I occasionally also watch mukbang (eating) videos when I am hungry!

What is one thing on your bucket list?
