PD Na Young Suk And PD Shin Won Ho Among Top 5 Highest Paid Employees At CJ ENM

It has been revealed that producing director (PD) Na Young Suk received a higher salary than the president and vice president of CJ ENM.

PD Shin Won Wo, known for directing the popular drama “Hospital Playlist,” has also been listed as one of the highest paid employees at CJ ENM.

According to data from the Financial Supervisory Service, PD Na Young Suk received 139 million won (approximately $117,100) along with a bonus of 880 million won (approximately $741,300), for a total salary of 1.02 billion won (approximately $859,200) in the first half of the year.

CJ ENM stated, “His salary reflects sales and operating profits of the business division as well as the viewership ratings, popularity, and sales of the content he produces. Bonuses were decided after taking into consideration his business expertise and his level of contribution to the company through activities such as coaching other PDs.”

PD Na Young Suk made a name for himself after joining KBS in 2001 and directing the variety show “2 Days & 1 Night.” After transferring to CJ ENM in 2013, he directed numerous hit shows such as “Grandpas Over Flowers,” “Three Meals a Day,” “New Journey to the West,” and “Youn’s Kitchen,” becoming an indispensable part of the company.

In 2018, he made headlines when it was revealed that with a yearly salary of 3.7 billion won (approximately $3.1 million), he made more than Lee Jae Hyun, the president of CJ ENM, and Lee Mi Kyung, CJ ENM’s vice president.

His salary was released in accordance with the Capital Disclosure Act, which states that listed companies must disclose the annual salaries of their five highest-paid employees whose salaries exceed 500 million won (approximately $421,200), even if they’re not executive board members.

In the first half of this year, PD Na Young Suk received a salary higher than the heads of the company due to the success of his programs like “Three Meals for Four,” which starred the four members of SECHSKIES attempting to live a self-sufficient life.

Additionally, PD Shin Won Ho was revealed to be the fifth highest paid employee at CJ ENM, having received a salary of 774 million won (approximately $652,000) after he directed the highly popular drama “Hospital Playlist.” He is considered to have played an important role in offsetting the slump in advertisement and media sales that occurred due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The drama reached a viewership rating of 14.1 percent for its final episode, and anticipation is rising for its second season.

Among CJ ENM’s other highly paid employees are director Lee Myung Han and CEO Heo Min Hoi, who earned salaries of 1.2 billion won (approximately $1 million) and 550 million won (approximately $463,337) respectively in the first half of the year. CJ ENM’s president Lee Jae Hyun earned a salary of 900 million won (approximately $758,188), while vice president Lee Mi Kyung received 1 billion won (approximately $842,432).

CJ ENM currently employs 3,599 employees who receive an average salary of 33.53 million won ($28,247).
