Dowoon And Wonpil Talk About How New Unit Differs From DAY6’s Usual Sound, Share Their Goals, And More
DAY6’s Dowoon and Wonpil shared their thoughts with Dazed magazine!
In an interview to accompany a pictorial, the DAY6 members talked about their upcoming unit release, how they’ve been spending their time, and more.
When asked about their new music as the unit Even of Day — which consists of Wonpil, Dowoon, and Young K — Wonpil said, “We’re planning our comeback for the end of August. It’s a bit different from what we’ve done as DAY6 so far. There are more synthesizer sounds in the song, and Dowoon’s electronic drums will be an important part of it. It’s a kind of music that we’ve never tried before.”
Wonpil continued, “The sound of our band is noticeably different when there are three members as opposed to five. We’ve thought about that a lot in order to make up for it.”
Wonpil also shared what the group’s been up to since their world tour last year. “We work on our music, practice together, and host radio shows,” he said. “Right now, we’re spending time on our own to improve ourselves.”
Dowoon commented, “Although we’re not performing concerts right now, I think this is a very important time for us. We didn’t have much time to practice individually when we were busy with concerts, but we do improve when we’re performing. For example, we learn how to take care of certain situations, like knowing how to adapt quickly.”
He continued, “However, I don’t think it was easy to improve our personal musical abilities. We want to practice a lot and improve our skills during times like these and show our fans an improved version of us at our next performance. We’re all spending time on our own with the mindset of ‘Let’s rack up as many skills as we can right now.'”

DAY6’s unit Even of Day will make their debut on August 31 with “The Book of Us: Gluon.”
