More Shows And Dramas Postpone Filming Due To COVID-19 Pandemic

More variety shows and dramas have halted production in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

On August 24, SBS announced that “Running Man” and “Master in the House” have halted filming. A representative stated, “The filming was canceled for the sake of the health and safety of the cast and crew. Segments that have already been recorded will be aired. We are currently discussing further filming dates.”

Studio Dragon, which produces dramas that air on channels such as tvN, OCN, and KBS, has also halted production. Kim Young Gyu, the production manager for Studio Dragon, commented, “Due to the rapid spread of COVID-19, we have decided to halt all scheduled filming from August 24 to August 31 in order to protect the safety of the cast and the staff involved in our drama productions.”

According to a statement released by CJ ENM on August 22, dramas produced by Studio Dragon that have the possibility of being rescheduled because of the halt to filming include “Flower of Evil” and “Missing: The Other Side.” tvN’s “Forest of Secrets 2” and “Record of Youth” will air as scheduled since they have already wrapped up filming.

Additionally, CJ ENM announced that tvN’s variety show “Hometown Flex” will stop filming until August 31, promising to announce any updates on rescheduled broadcast dates. CJ ENM also noted that Mnet’s live music program “M Countdown” will stop airing until further notice.

KBS also recently ordered a halt on production to protect the safety of their cast and crew, pushing back the premiere date of “Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol.” The upcoming drama “Zombie Detective” has also halted filming, postponing the original premiere date of August 31.

Meanwhile, “To All the Guys Who Loved Me” has resumed filming. Previously, supporting actor Seo Sung Jong tested positive for COVID-19, prompting an immediate halt in filming.

On August 24, a representative from the drama stated, “Aiming to air the final episode on September 1, we are currently finishing up the final bit of filming. The filming will be completed with staff who did not come in contact with the actor who tested positive for COVID-19. The production team plans to thoroughly follow the government’s COVID-19 prevention policies and wrap up filming using a set inside the broadcasting station.”
