CNBLUE's Lee Jung Shin, gugudan's Mina, Kwon Hyun Bin, And Lim Nayoung Cast In New Drama

The new drama “Summer Guys” (literal title) has confirmed its main cast!

“Summer Guys” is the Korea Creative Content Agency’s selection for their 2020 new media (short-form broadcast) project. The drama is about four youths who get together to revive an old cocktail bar at the beach.

Confirmed as the four lead cast members are CNBLUE’s Lee Jung Shin, Kwon Hyun Bin, gugudan’s Mina, and Lim Nayoung.

The drama will be directed by Heo Chan, who directed the Netflix drama “My Runway” and worked as assistant director on Bong Joon Ho’s “Snowpiercer.” He stated, “The casting fits the characters so well it’s like the actors popped out of the script. I hope that this lineup can continue into Season 2.”

“Summer Guys” is said to be like a Korean version of “Coyote Ugly” and “Cocktail,” with the key themes of youth, dancing, and music. It is set on Jeju Island, with the production staff working with a local hotel to build a real cocktail bar that can be used as a real bar after filming ends. Filming began on Jeju Island on August 20.

The production company stated, “Due to word-of-mouth about the script and production, a Chinese remake of the drama is already in the works even though the original is not yet complete. We plan to use this content IP (intellectual property) in the OSMU (one source, multi-use) format so that the drama can have multiple seasons and spin-offs. We will work hard to fulfill the viewers’ expectations for ‘Summer Guys,’ which will be available through OTT (over-the-top) [streaming] services worldwide.”
