Gong Myung, Ra Mi Ran, And More Cast In New Film About Voice Phishing

On September 3, Showbox revealed the cast for the upcoming film “Citizen Duk Hee” (literal translation).

“Citizen Duk Hee” is a film about an ordinary citizen named Duk Hee, who sets out to find the criminal herself after she becomes a victim of a voice phishing scam. Voice phishing is a form of fraud in which people are asked for their personal and financial information in a phone call from someone pretending to be a legitimate source. The film is based on a real story in which a citizen helped a voice phishing scammer get arrested.

Ra Mi Ran has been cast as Duk Hee, the citizen who loses thousands of won in a voice phishing scam. Gong Myung has been cast as Jae Min, a member of the organization behind the voice phishing scam who decides to risk it all and become a secret informant on Duk Hee’s side.

Uhm Hye Ran has been cast as Bong Rim, a close friend and colleague of Duk Hee. Jang Yoon Joo has been cast as Sook Ja, a woman who has a similar personality to Duk Hee and helps her track down the criminal.

“Citizen Duk Hee” will be directed by Park Young Joo, for whom this will be her first big film. She previously directed independent films like “Second Life” and “1 Kilogram,” the latter of which was invited to the Cinéfondation section of the 69th Cannes Film Festival.
