Yang Hyun Suk Admits To Gambling Charges At First Hearing
On September 9, the Seoul Western District Court held the first trial for four individuals including former YG Entertainment executive producer Yang Hyun Suk as well as “Kim” and “Lee,” the co-CEOs of YG Entertainment’s subsidiary YGX.
In June, Yang Hyun Suk was indicted on charges of flying to Las Vegas, United States seven times between July 2015 and January 2019 and gambling using a total of approximately $335,460 with four other individuals. He was indicted with a summary judgement (a judgment made by the court without a full in-person trial), but the court decided that an in-person trial was necessary for this case.
At the trial, Yang Hyun Suk’s lawyer said, “We admit to all charges,” while also stating that part of the evidence presented by the prosecution did not serve as adequate proof.
Yang Hyun Suk showed up for trial in a black suit and a mask. He did not respond to any of the questions asked by the press as he entered the court and walked out after the hearing.
The next trial for Yang Hyun Suk and the three other individuals will take place on October 28.
