Watch: BTS Shares Reaction To Their Fun-Filled “Dynamite” B-Side MV
After its release on August 21, the “Dynamite” MV set a new YouTube record for the highest 24-hour debut view count. The English-language single went on to achieve a perfect all-kill in South Korea and debut at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100, the highest ranking on the chart for an all-South Korean group. “Dynamite” has since gone on to extend that record by topping the chart for a second consecutive week.
The B-side MV for “Dynamite” shows some cut scenes, bloopers, and behind-the-scenes fun from the music video set. The reaction video began with the BTS members attempting to explain what “B-side” means. A-side and B-side are terms that come from LP records, referring to the two “sides” of the record that would play different songs when flipped. The A-side is similar to what Korean artists now refer to as the “title track,” while a “B-side” would be an additional or secondary song.
V said, “It’s like watching from a different perspective.” Just before the video played, J-Hope quipped, “It’s the BTS side.” V countered, “So the A-side is the ARMY side.”
As the B-side MV played, J-Hope explained, “We do a lot of different takes for the music video. This includes different takes as well as bloopers.” The members then talked a little about each other’s solo scenes, which were usually filmed without the others present.
In the basketball scene, Suga said, “I asked them to use CGI to make the ball go in, but they didn’t.” The members had a lot of fun watching the scenes in which they improvised dances and mentioned Jimin and V’s reference of a meme featuring Noh Hong Chul from “Infinite Challenge.”
At the end, the members expressed their admiration at the CGI effects. V said, “Let’s pretend it wasn’t CGI and that we really went there.” Asked where “there” was, he said, “It’s a secret.”
