The second match-up of Round 2 was between Ammonite, who sang FTISLAND’s “I Hope,” and Fellowship of the Ring, who sang Baek Ji Young’s “Choice.” Ammonite showed off his powerful vocals and showmanship skills, while Fellowship of the Ring showed off her unique vocal colors.

Kim Hyun Chul said, “Ammonite has a lot of heung, but he is also good at singing. He’s a potential champion contender.” About Fellowship of the Ring, he said, “She has a bewitching sound in her voice, and she can even hit high notes on top of that. It feels like I’ve entered Alice’s Wonderland.”

Ammonite also showed off his dance skills in the talent show segment.

The panelists chose Fellowship of the Ring through a vote, who advanced to Round 3. Ammonite unmasked to reveal himself as U-KISS’s leader and main vocalist, Soohyun.

U-KISS is one of several K-pop groups from the late 2000s and early 2010s whose songs have been regaining public attention. U-KISS’s revived hits include “Man Man Ha Ni” (“Am I that Easy”) and “Shut Up.”

Soohyun said, “After I was discharged from mandatory military service, I wasn’t able to promote much. There weren’t any places that were looking for me. But then a good opportunity arose. I’m grateful that people have been looking up old U-KISS songs and showing them love, and I’m very grateful to have gotten the chance to appear on ‘The King of Mask Singer.'”

He continued, “As a leader, it was hard to deal with the member lineup changes. I had the mindset that I would work hard even if it was just me left. I’m happy that good opportunities have been arising lately. My future dream is to work hard and bring the members back for a concert.”
