Update: CJ ENM Confirms Wanna One Will Not Stage Reunion Performance At 2020 MAMA

Updated November 20 KST:

CJ ENM has now announced that it was decided there will not be a Wanna One reunion performance at the 2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards (2020 MAMA).

A source from CJ ENM told MyDaily on November 20, “Wanna One will not be appearing at 2020 MAMA.”

“As the members are each actively promoting in their own respective spots, we thought it might be meaningful in many ways to show a performance to K-pop fans or music fans through the ‘MAMA’ stage, and so we were in discussion with each of the agencies,” they said. “Mnet will continue to support the work and futures of each of the Wanna One members.”

CJ ENM has confirmed that they are in discussions for a potential Wanna One performance at the 2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards (2020 MAMA).

Ilgan Sports reported claims from industry sources that CJ ENM had proposed a Wanna One reunion performance for 2020 MAMA. The proposal was inspired by the joint performance that former Wanna One members Kim Jae Hwan, Ha Sung Woon, Park Ji Hoon, Lee Dae Hwi, and Park Woo Jin did together at KCON:TACT Season 2 last month.

On November 5, CJ ENM stated, “We are in discussions for Wanna One’s collaboration performance, but nothing has been decided as of yet.”

Wanna One was a project group formed of the top 11 contestants from “Produce 101 Season 2.” After the group disbanded, the members went back to their former groups (NU’EST’s Minhyun), debuted in new groups (AB6IX’s Lee Dae Hwi and Park Woo Jin, CIX’s Bae Jin Young), or went solo (Ha Sung Woon, Yoon Ji Sung, Ong Seong Wu, Kim Jae Hwan, Kang Daniel, Park Ji Hoon, Lai Kuanlin).

2020 MAMA is scheduled to take place on December 6 and will take place without face-to-face contact (“untact”).
