Watch: Crayon Pop's Choa Performs Their Hit

Crayon Pop’s Choa competed on the premiere of “Sing Again”!

The new JTBC show is a “rebooting” audition program that aims to give unknown or forgotten singers another chance to take the stage and show their skills in front of the public. It’s hosted by Lee Seung Gi, with a judges panel that includes Yoo Hee Yeol, Lee Sun Hee, Jeon In Kwon, Kim Ea Na, Song Mino of WINNER, Kyuhyun of Super Junior, Sunmi, and Lee Hae Ri of Davichi.

The November 16 premiere of the show featured the first batch of 71 acts competing in the first round. All the artists will be competing on the show as a number, rather than their name. During their performances, the judges can show that they want to see them again by hitting their “A” (“Again”) button. If a contestant receives six or more “A”s from the judges, they’re passed through to the next round.

Choa competed as “No. 59,” and since she had joined the category of contestants who had previous hits, she had to perform Crayon Pop’s 2013 viral sensation “Bar Bar Bar.”

Before she began, Lee Sun Hee was surprised and asked if Choa could really perform the song on her own. Choa replied, “This is also my first time trying it.”

“I’m as nervous as I was when I debuted,” she said in an interview. “I used to have a lot of fans, although I don’t now. I really want to repay them by making them able to be proud and think, ‘I was a fan of this kind of singer.'”

Her energetic and skilled performance earned her seven “A”s from the judges, with the panel and Lee Seung Gi even joining her in jumping to the choreography.

Lee Seung Gi praised her live singing and Lee Sun Hee said to Choa, “You stayed in tune even though you kept jumping and you were singing on your own. I could tell from even that alone that you have potential as a vocalist.”

“Sing Again” airs on Mondays at 10:30 p.m. KST on JTBC.
