"The Penthouse" Stars Are Nothing Like Their Characters In Fun Behind-The-Scenes Photos

SBS’s “The Penthouse” has unveiled a new behind-the-scenes glimpse of its starring cast!

The hit drama starring Lee Ji Ah, Kim So Yeon, and S.E.S.’s Eugene continues to gain steam—and new viewers—with each new episode, repeatedly breaking its own personal ratings records and recently breaking past 20 percent nationwide (an impressive feat for a Monday-Tuesday drama). “The Penthouse” is also currently spending its second consecutive week at No. 1 on the list of Korea’s most buzzworthy dramas.

A huge part of the drama’s appeal is the fiery conflicts and tense standoffs between its passionate characters, who are often willing to put their lives on the line for whatever it is they strive for: be it love, success, or revenge. However, the newly released photos of the cast behind the scenes show that once the cameras stop rolling, they are nothing like their on-screen characters.

Unlike her tormented character Shim Soo Ryeon, Lee Ji Ah exudes a relaxed, cheerful air as she poses for the camera between takes. Meanwhile, there is not a trace of the dastardly and vicious Joo Dante to be found in the photos of her on-screen husband Uhm Ki Joon, who is all smiles as he poses affectionately with his various co-stars. Amusingly, he wears an especially bright smile as he takes a photo with Park Eun Suk, whose character is on less-than-friendly terms with Joo Dan Te in the drama.

Choi Ye Bin and Han Ji Hyun, who play Han Eun Byul and Joo Seok Kyung respectively, also show off their sunny real-life personalities as they smile brightly at the camera.

Other stars captured in the new behind-the-scenes photos include Eugene, Kim So Yeon, Yoon Jong Hoon, Kim Young Dae, Bong Tae Gyu, and Kim Hyun Soo.

The producers of “The Penthouse” commented, “Although the cast of ‘The Penthouse’ is extremely focused while filming, they never lose their cheerful and happy smiles when they’re off-camera.”

“The actors really bonded during filming,” they continued, “and their outstanding teamwork and fantastic chemistry has been enhancing the quality of the drama.”
