Melon Launches New Chart For Discovering Top Recent Releases
Melon now features a chart to help discover newly released music!
On January 25, Kakao’s Melon revealed its launch of a new chart called Recent 24Hits (literal translation) that allows users to check the most popular new releases.
According to Melon, the chart is an aggregation of the top 100 songs that users have listened to the most among new songs within one week of release and within four weeks of release. The addition is a reflection of the demand set forth by users who want to stay updated with the latest trends in music.
The chart is located under the second tab, which is the Trends tab. Users will be able to filter between songs released within the past week or released within the past four weeks. The aggregation method is the same as it is for the 24Hits chart. It updates every hour by reflecting usage (60% download and 40% streaming) over the last 24 hours.
It is predicted that users will have more opportunities to come across a diverse range of music while a variety of artists get a chance to gain more fans. 24Hits introduces songs that are steadily pulling in popularity while Recent 24Hits introduces recently released popular tracks and trends.
A source of Melon stated, “We decided to launch Recent 24Hits after receiving feedback that it was difficult to discover new releases following the reorganization of charts. With a variety of charts, a personalized curation service based on the database of the leading platform in the industry, and a series of original content, Melon will provide a distinguished environment and experience for music streaming.”
