3 Reasons To Look Forward To Lee Seo Jin's Acting Return In New OCN Mystery Drama

Lee Seo Jin will soon be appearing in his first drama in two years!

OCN’s new Saturday-Sunday drama “Times” stars Lee Seo Jin as journalist Lee Jin Woo, who is living in 2015. This “time-warp” political mystery drama will tell the story of how Lee Jin Woo is miraculously connected by phone to Seo Jung In (Lee Joo Young), the daughter of South Korean president Seo Gi Tae (Kim Young Chul), in 2020. Through this communication, Seo Jung In attempts to prevent the death of her father—but stumbles upon a dangerous truth in the process.

Here are three key points to look forward to for Lee Seo Jin and “Times”!

1. Lee Seo Jin’s second OCN drama

After appearing in OCN’s “Trap” in 2019, “Times” is Lee Seo Jin’s second project with OCN. Through his role as sociopath anchorman Kang Woo Hyun in “Trap,” Lee Seo Jin was able to clearly demonstrate the spectrum of his acting. In his decision to work with OCN for his drama return, Lee Seo Jin is raising anticipation for his role in “Times” to be just as thrilling.

While his new role as a journalist may initially appear similar to his past role as an anchorman, this is not the case. Unlike Kang Woo Hyun of “Trap” who hid his lack of humanity behind his practiced facial expressions and used people as tools, Lee Jin Woo of “Times” is the complete opposite. This character is warm and compassionate and is not swayed by any external pressures.

2. Lee Seo Jin’s concerns

At their script reading, Lee Seo Jin revealed, “I’m not sure how to portray the character of Lee Jin Woo in a charismatic way.” However, after numerous teasers and making clips have been released, viewers have been able to see Lee Seo Jin’s tough yet tenderhearted charms. Contrary to his stuttering lips, he’s diligent and acts sweetly and flaunts a picturesque smile with a big dimple. The producers even confirmed that his character was the perfect “tsundere” (warm on the inside, cold on the outside).

3. The reunion of Lee Seo Jin and Kim Young Chul

Lee Seo Jin and Kim Young Chul previously showed off their incredible chemistry in the 2014 drama “Wonderful Days” as close-knit father and son. Now, the pair are reuniting as journalist Lee Jin Woo and president Seo Gi Tae, with Seo Gi Tae’s secret being the core of the story. Viewers can look forward to how Lee Jin Woo and Seo Gi Tae become intertwined, how Lee Jin Woo plans to expose this truth, as well as the chemistry between these two actors seven years later.

OCN’s “Times” premieres on February 20 at 10:30 p.m. KST. Check out a teaser here!
