Member Of Rising Girl Group Warms Hearts With Her Emotional Vocals In “The King Of Mask Singer”

On the January 31 episode of MBC’s “The King of Mask Singer,” a group of contestants competed for the chance to challenge Treasure Box for the throne.

The second match-up of Round 2 was between Ice and Yuja Tea. Ice sang Lee Moon Se’s “In the Rain” and captivated the panelists with his warm and gentle vocal tone. Yuja Tea sang Yoon Jong Shin’s “What I Should Do Tomorrow” and showed off the emotional range of her voice.

After Yuja Tea’s performance, Rocket Punch’s Suyun, who was one of the panelists, said, “I called someone the other day and she said that she had seen me on ‘The King of Mask Singer.’ I think that she was watching the show as preparation, so I’m guessing that Yuja Tea is LOONA’s Yves.” Ice advanced to the next round with 16 votes to Yuja Tea’s 5, and Yuja Tea unmasked to prove Suyun’s guess correct.

Yves said, “I was practicing for ‘The King of Mask Singer’ when a video of Suyun came up and I watched it in order to prepare. She’s younger than me, but she didn’t get nervous and did so well, so I called her. During the break a few minutes ago, she sent me a message asking, ‘Where are you?’, so I ignored it.”

Yves also shared that she had practiced with a photo of Kim Gura in front of her and that she had been curious about how panelist Yoo Young Suk would evaluate her, since he was known to be a harsh critic. Yoo Young Suk then praised her performance and said that he had been moved.

On Twitter, Yves wrote, “Hello, Orbit. This is Yuja Tea. I never dreamed that I would be able to participate in a show like ‘The King of Mask Singer,’ but fortunately a chance came up and I was able to go. I was so nervous! I wanted to show Orbits a good performance and so I sang my heart out. Everyone gave me such good feedback so I think I was able to make good memories as I watched the show with the members at the dorm. I am very happy to have shown such great songs to Orbit. Through this chance, I will show even better songs in future, and grow even more so that I can warm your hearts like yuja tea. Thank you, Orbit!”
