OCN Reveals 2021 Lineup Of Dramas

OCN has shared its 2021 lineup of original dramas!

Through a video released on February 11, the network gives a preview of what’s in store this year. Up first is “Times,” a time-warp political mystery drama starring Lee Joo Young and Lee Seo Jin. Lee Joo Young plays Seo Jung In, the daughter of the South Korean president Seo Gi Tae (Kim Young Chul). Through a phone call, she’s mysteriously connected to a journalist named Lee Jin Woo (Lee Seo Jin), who’s living five years in the past. She enlists his help to prevent the death of her father, but she ends up encountering a dangerous truth. “Times” premieres on February 20 at 10:30 p.m. KST, and you can check out a teaser here.

Next up is “Dark Hole” (literal title), a mystery sci-fi thriller about a group of survivors who have to fight for their lives against mutants that are created when humans breathe mysterious dark smoke from a sinkhole. It stars Kim Ok Bin and Lee Joon Hyuk, and it’s part of OCN’s “dramatic cinema project,” which aims to bridge the gap between films and TV through various genre productions. The drama is written by Jung Yi Do, who penned “Save Me” and “Strangers from Hell.” The video includes Kim Ok Bin saying in distress, “That’s not a human. How could this happen?”

Voice” is also returning for a fourth season in 2021. The series began in 2017 and most recently aired its third season in 2019. The show revolves around an emergency call center and the employees who attempt to fight crime using the limited information from the urgent calls they receive. Original cast members including Lee Ha Na return along with new faces for the fourth season.

In the second half of the year, OCN will air “Hometown” (literal title), which is about mysterious series of murders in a small town, with the “mystery demon thriller” beginning with a tape that plays a strange, unidentified sound.

Finally, the video showcases “Island” (literal title), a fantasy exorcism drama based on a webtoon of the same name. It tells the story of man who needs a woman to end his cursed immortal life and a woman who doesn’t know about her sad and cruel fate. The two are joined by an exorcist priest who is consumed by the guilt of having been unable to protect one girl. On the island that possesses an evil darkness despite its beauty, the three characters who seem unlikely to get along will gather their strength to protect each other.

Kim Je Hyun, the director of CJ ENM’s IP (intellectual property) Department, stated, “This year, OCN has prepared a lineup of dramas with unique stories, characters, and universes, from “Times” to “Dark Hole,” “Voice 4,” and “Hometown,” all based on the network’s capabilities built up over the past 25 years.” She added, “You’ll be able to see well-made projects that only OCN could create, which will bring genre works to a new height.”
