CJ ENM Confirms That KCON:TACT 3 Will Be Held In March

The online version of KCON will be held for the third time in March 2021.

On February 16, CJ ENM confirmed that KCON:TACT 3 will be held from March 20 to 28.

KCON is a major convention for the celebration of Korean pop culture and entertainment and has taken place in countries such as the United States, France, Australia, Mexico, and Japan. After the COVID-19 pandemic began, KCON held digital versions of the event called KCON:TACT in the summer and fall of 2020.

KCON:TACT 3 will feature customized content based on what is popular in each region. This includes workshops with local influencers and fan meeting programs, which were popular in the offline KCON events in the United States and Japan. In KCON:TACT 3, these events will be arranged according to the time zones and languages of various regions. There will also be a program to allow real-time participation from global fans, who actively participate in content and are influential spreaders of Korean popular culture. It is hoped that these events will also add greater synergy to the offline festivals once they resume.

There will also be concert stages directed by Mnet to bring a little of the offline experience to artists and fans. From the opening stage to the special ending stage, the concerts will follow a “world tour” concept and storyline. Diverse offline concert arenas will be recreated through technology so that it will feel as if viewers are going on a world tour with their artists.

K-pop artists will also prepare spin-off shows in which they can show more of their diverse musicality. Meet-and-greet events, which are a key part of the convention experience, will also add more experiences, such as fans and artists creating content together, talking with artists in comfortable sets, or artists sharing the music they listen to with their fans.

KCON:TACT 3 will be held through multiple platforms in order to make it more accessible to fans of Korean pop culture around the world. In Korea, it will be held through TVing, while fans abroad can participate through the KCON Official and Mnet K-POP YouTube channels.

A source from CJ ENM stated, “A huge strength for KCON:TACT 3 is being able to meet various artists who represent the present and future of K-pop in one place. As it is currently difficult to meet with foreign fans in person, we have prepared diverse content in order to recreate the offline experience. We will continue to work for the spread of global K-pop that transverses time and space.”
